The effect of emotional and social-skill improvement program on self-esteem, peer relational skill and emotional-behavioral problems for multi-cultural children

The purpose of the study is to examine the positive effect of the Emotional and Social-Skill Improvement Program for Multi-Cultural elementary-school students with emotional behavioral problems. The Emotional and Social-Skill Improvement Program is proven powerful effect for children with emotional-behavioral problems. A packet of questionnaires measuring the self-esteem scale, peer relational skill scale, the emotional-behavioral problems scales were administered to 9 children in the experimental group and 7 children on a control group. The experimental group showed significant improvements over time in scores on the self-esteem scale, peer relational skill scale and the emotional- behavioral problems scales. However, there were no significant differences in the control group. This study demonstrates that the Emotional and Social-Skill Improvement Program for Multi-Cultural elementary-school students with emotional-behavioral problems may be effective for improving self-esteem and peer relational skill and reducing internalizing/externalizing psychological symptoms.
